I suppose one advantage of being off the computer and hence WoW is that I have been avoiding all of this DDOS and connection issues that seem to have come up. But I pretty frustrated, I was planning for Mabaho to be well in the thick of levelling (likely done by now) and in the dungeons etc, but alas, he still sits about at 90.
I’ve gotten him as far as starting his garrison.
Magdasal is worse, stranded just after the Dark Portal collapsed.
In the downtime, I’ve been tossing about the idea in my head of running a second guild raiding team. I know I’ll have to talk through it carefully with the Guild Leader (waves sheepishly at Navi – I know she has different position on the idea). Sure part of the motivation is selfish, it’s a vehicle for me to get into raiding because playing together is the whole reason I play WoW.
The idea would not to steal folks (not even their alts) from the main team, and not compete with them for resources (players, guild donations etc). And I think this is the tough point for the whole idea…. not to affect the other team, and not to create any tension between them.
But I also know our guild has grown a bit recently and I’m sure I can round up 10 or so others to set up a second team to no detriment to the core (and even the sometimes) raiders, not even a B team – more like your local work footy side vs the Super 14s pro side. It might even have a limited lifespan, say 12 months (which will be when I move back to Sydney). Anyway, I’ll talk to Navi about it and see if we can set some ground rules for the idea. (and here she is forewarned?)
But certainly not going to do anything until I get to 100 on at least one toon. I might push Magdasal up to heal on (or switch Mabaho to Resto – did I just write that???)
It was Sunday. I was in Canberra before 8pm. Guild. FLEX.
I went RAIDING!
I have no idea who that is. I have no idea what I’m doing, I know I died here at some point. And my DPS was just barely more than Navi, who was healing.
So the guild carried me through wing 1 and wing 3(?) and a few bosses. I didn’t make the end of the second wing, I was too sleepy. It had been a late night Saturday at home, a long day and a few hours on the bike.
But I went in at about iLevel 430 and came out at 469! Picking up a new back, shoulders and hands, I was pretty happy with that.
I died a few more times. But we kind of expected that. One bit I really got sick of was all the small mobs around the Valley of Strength in Org. They just seemed to never stop.
Apart from that, it was great to get a chance to play with the guild. I certainly won’t be raiding seriously with them, my DPS was less than 1% of the top 3 or 4 DPS combined. Orders of magnitude smaller… and I was doing about 5K more than I had before! Yikes, I guess that’s the effect of a 50-100 point iLevel difference.
I don’t think I’ll make next week, I expect to be a little late. But I look forward to raiding again soon and catching up with the guild as well.
I logged in to do some levelling on Mabango only to find Navi in ICC. Quickly I swapped to Mab and was invited into the 10man achievement run. I was pretty excited as apart from occasionally walking in the front door and leaving, I’ve never been in ICC, let alone killed the King himself.
I joined as they approached the airship fight. I was instructed to stay on ours and repel boarders.
Again it was mostly a case of follow, bash whatever came within reach, listen carefully to the brief so as not screw up people’s achievements (and my own of course). And the run went well.
The achieve with the green dragon didn’t work out.
I hadn’t realised Sin was a she, until they said the Queen was coming
I have to admit, I afk’d (RL issues) for the first run through this as we attempted to get 30 stacks (of something???) and came back to a dead body and a second attempt. I have a bad feeling that my afk killed them (though I did word them up I was leaving). So again, my record of dieing at least once (usually more) in every guild run is secure.
Moments later I was thrown from the platform and died and I was convinced that we were starting again. Vent and chat opened up with Don’t Release!! so I didn’t, but spent the next couple of minutes staring up to the platform wondering what would happen.
Eventually we were raised up and the KING WAS DEAD! The cutscene started and I watched most of it before the vent conversation brought me back. And you can view it in Dalaran if you wish.
Hmm, actually looking at the achieves I must have been ported in at Lady Deathwhisper, not the boat. I kinda thought that was trash. 8 or 9 Heroic DS geared toons (and me) makes short work of these dungeons.
WIth the kids actually in bed and asleep, and it being Friday night which is normally guild alt raid night I logged in wondering what might be happening. I didn’t find any alt raids (which is good, as I’ve banned myself from them) but a small group was running Black Temple. I was pretty sure Mabaho hadn’t done it, but I think Dasal had, so Mabaho joined in.
Turns out I had done it, but it was over fast and then they decided to push into Naxx. Now I definitely hadn’t done all of that, a check of achieves tells me I finished 10 man Construct qtr in May 2009, about 3 years ago! And I certainly never went there in Vanilla.
We had a group of 8 but with the rest of them geared for DS I knew my mediocre (by comparison) effort won’t be telling (as it is when we alt raid, hence the self induced ban).
So for me, a first time in 3/4 of Naxx and we were running 25man. Here is a few snapshots (though I reckon some of you might be well sick of the place)
It was also a busy night for achieves, racking up the following (all 25 man) –
