I’ve been a bit frustrated over the past few weeks, feeling a bit cooped up and itching for a day sort of for myself instead of looking after the family. I really wanted a ride too. So took the day off work, with the weather supposed to be partly cloudy and pleasant mid-20s. I didn’t feel like going up the Putty, and after another ride a couple of months back, I really didn’t feel like dragging myself down south.
So I went up Wiseman’s Ferry, half thinking to head up to Wollombi and have lunch. Starting at Windsor, I enjoyed the ride up to the Ferry, with a stop at the Lookout for some pics.
The ferry itself was delayed a little – they looked to be swapping out the other ferry. Wiseman’s and the other NSW river ferries all use cables to pull the ferry across the river. Wiseman’s has two ferry cables though I have never seen both running at the same time. So the ferry was delayed a little as a tug moved the ferry into position for the cables to be attached. I assume some time after I left, they collected the ferry from the other end and took it away.
I decided I didn’t want to head up to Wollombi, but I would head over to Pie in the Sky and then home. I stopped just past Mangrove and figured it wouldn’t be too far out of the way to drop in at “The Tunnel”. Seen on countless car and bike photos in Sydney, it’s taken a little while for me to figure out where it is. I had that sorted a few months ago and here was a golden opportunity for me to visit the popular site for photos!
So I did.
Then it was back down the Old Pacific Hwy to Pie in the Sky. I decided that the Robinson Pie Shop has better pies. And I probably should have gone somewhere that had burgers…. but it was a good place to stop. And from there I knew it’s only about an hour home.
Arriving home, I think about 1230, I’d been gone since 0700. A good day out.
I also took the opportunity to experiment with recharging my GoPro. I think a faster cable might help, but basically using the battery pack is possible, but slow. So on longer trips it would be a case of taking the camera off the helmet for a leg, charge it up, ready for the next leg.
And the bike felt really good, and I felt really confident on it today. Something I kind of haven’t yet. I put it down to suspension adjustments I had been messing with recently. Mostly, the rear was set a lot firmer than when I first had the bike and I found that a lot better to ride with.
